“Bryan was indeed one of the greatest people and most gifted skateboarders that I had come in contact with. The first time I met Bryan was back in 1990. I met him while skating at a local college in Cerritos, CA. He was riding an old Santa Cruz Everslick board covered with Indy, Speed Wheels, and Zimbabwe stickers. I remember him being able to do Ollie impossible?s & pressure flips while skating with a broken arm. I was amazed. I asked him if he was sponsored by Santa Cruz and he replied “No, but Jason Rothmeyer did give me this board?.” Wow, I thought to myself. He must be good if sponsored skater was willing to give him a board. That’s my first memory that I have of Bryan. We’ve been friends ever since. From then all the way until now, his willing to befriend anyone, that would always make him a stand out in a crowd. He always made an effort to meet and get to know the people that surrounded him. No matter if it was skateboarding, partying, watching football games, etc. Which is still rare in most scenarios.

Bryan was one of the first people out of our crew to get sponsored. What was great was that he was put on the team that he would always ride their boards anyways which was Planet Earth skateboards. During this time his skateboarding skills really started to shine through. While we sat trying to wire the hottest and newest flip tricks, he was working on doing them switch. One of our on going things that we used make fun of him for/give him props was always appearing in the switch stance articles in the early 411vm’s. Even up until they stopped having that article, he would still have clips up in there.
In the end he still remained friends with all that have known him through out the years. Which again points out what kind of individual he really was. No matter where he went, or how long it has been, you could talk to him and it’s like you never skipped a beat. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to have a friend like this in my life. He has taught me to always be happy regardless of where I am and whom I am with. I am sad to say farewell, but I know it’s not good-bye. I look forward to seeing my friend again in another life. I’m positive that I will too. People like Bryan aren’t just people, their inspirations. And inspirations never go away.”

Emerica launched its ninth edition of Design-A-Tee contest!

Welcome to the ninth edition of Emerica’s ongoing Design-A-Tee contests, in which we empower you, the ranks of Emerican youth, to create the best Emerica T-shirt graphic ever. You must enter Design-A-Tee 9 as soon as possible, though, as this contest officially closes on December 3, 2008. So, you better get crackin’ and get creative! Download the Design-a-Tee template and get started.
After the contest ends, three winners will be chosen, each of whom will receive five shirts bearing their winning design, and three pairs of Emerica shoes. Note: Upon entering the contest, your artwork becomes the property of Emerica (Sole Technology, Inc.) The three winners’ designs will be produced in a future Emerica Gear (apparel) line, and their only payment is the prizes listed.
*If you’re going to snail mail in your entry, make sure you do so early enough to reach us by December 3, 2008 at Emerica Design-a-Tee 9, 25422 Trabuco Road, Suite 105 #441, Lake Forest, California 92630-1090. If your entry is late, it will be automatically entered in the next Design-a-Tee contest. We’re so nice.
Graphics to avoid: Do not submit any entries containing the words “God Bless Emerica” or depict an American flag with Emerica Triangle logos in place of the stars. Another cliché to avoid is the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon graphic with a Triangle logo prism.

Stussy and In4mation have come together to release a deck and t-shirt to commemorate their shared Hawaian roots. See the gear and video.

Stussy and In4mation come together again with another project that gives tribute towards something that is really special to both parties. Stussy and In4mation will be releasing a Skate Deck and Tshirt to commemorate their upbringing in Hawaii. The Stussy Honolulu Chapter is managed by Mililani, Hawaii native Ian Okui who has grown up with the In4mation boys and they wanted to give this Sophomore release that feel of having fun and not caring about whats hot and whats not. When discussing everything with Rhandy (In4mation) he felt that we utilize a hand drawn graphic with that classic 80’s feel of an undisclosed store that everyone grew up going to getting that special Sk8 Combo. (Everyone who grew up in Hawaii that Skated should know this)
The Sophomore release will be released only at the Stussy Honolulu Chapter Store, Stussy Direct Online Store and In4mation/Aloha Army stores in Honolulu, Hawaii.
