As for a short little expose, I started riding in 5th grade on a skateboard then as I got bigger I started riding a longboard and I just liked it better because I was never really good at doing tricks. The longboard made it easier to cruise on rough surfaces and I don’t have to worry about ‘eating it’ on big cracks in the cement. When I moved to Arizona I saw a lot more girls riding, growing up in Washington I had like 2 other girl friends with boards so it was pretty uncommon.
My inspiration for starting Vixen was when I was shopping around for my next longboard. As hard as I tried, not many deck designs appealed to me. Although I settled for a sweet Arbor, I was concerned about there not being any board companies made to appeal to women. I have three boards in my first line, one is Chinese themed, one is Egyptian themed, and one is underwater themed. The boards are 37″ inches long by 9″ inches wide.
I am working on a team of girl riders right now, but so far we only have one rider, her name is Kat and she’s a freshman at a high school here in Tucson. If I can find more riders like Kat, we will have a very impressive group of girls.
My goals for 2010 are to finish my junior year at U of A with at least “B” average and I would like to have 6 more designs by August for my next line of longboards. I would also like to start a steady work out regimen and eat less junk food.
Thanks for interest you’ve expressed in Vixen.
