With this upcoming Sunday being Go Skateboarding Day and Emerica’s Wild in the Streets, the City of Vancouver has officially declared this week, June 15-22 as “Skateboarding Week” to recognize the importance of the sport in the city.

KR3W will be in Quebec City at EXO this Saturday June 20, 2009 for a demo.

Join us for SkateFest 2009 presented by Fairfax Surf Shop & Wakefield Skate Park to raise money for Children’s Hospital. Skaterboarders will skate through a checkpoint route or participate in any of the 4 competitions at Wakefield Skate Park.

SKATE COMPETITION DETAILS:

First Day of Skate Competition: Preliminaries June 19, 2009

• Begins on June 19, 4-7 PM at Wakefield Skate Park
• Check-in is at 4-5 PM, Have your $15 Registration fee
• All Participants MUST be present for Preliminaries to participate

Final Day of Skate Competition: Finals June 20, 2009

• Begins June 20, at 3 PM - 7 PM at Wakefield Skate Park
• Final Competition Rounds will be held through out the day

The Skate Competition is open to 4 Age-Group Brackets:

11 and Under
14 and Under
18 and Under
19+

And Four Event Categories:

Quarter Pipe Jam
Best Trick
Park/Street Course
FSS Skate Team Tryout

Participants may only enter in one age-group bracket, and one,or more (or ALL!) competition categories. On the Main Festival Day, June 20, 2009 finals for the skate competition will begin at 3 PM and be held throughout the day.

Emerica’s Braydon Szafranski is sick as a dog and needs to get a few days of rest for Wild in the Streets in Vancouver coming up this weekend. So, unfortunately, the rest of the Hang With Braydon and Herman! tour stops at Family Sports in La Mirada, IDS in Downey and United in Lakewood–all in California have been canceled.
