August 17th 2008 was a beautiful day in busy NYC, it was the day after the “Back to the Banks” and the city was flooded with all types of skaters from all over. Red Bull put on another good show, giving back to the skate community and getting people together in the process. They had Jefferson Pang and Dave Ortiz announcing the days events and had a solid panel of judges, most of which anyone would rather see out skating the obstacles above anything else. They were Eric Koston, Rodney Torres, Dan Pensyl (get better soon!), and Steve Berra. Koston skated early in the afternoon and got everyone excited for the contest to start.

The list of pros was awesome, especially for an east coast contest. Rodrigo Peterson, Eli Reed, Jason Dill, Chico Brenes, Brandon Biebel, Jack Curtain, Stevie Williams, Malcom Watson, Jereme Rogers, Brian Wenning, Richard Angelidas, Joey Brezenski, Kenny Anderson, Dennis Busenitz, Bobby Worrest, Stefan Janoski, Kelly Hart, Gary Smith, SAD, Dan Murphy, Danny Falla, Jon Newport, and plenty of others and many skated in betweens heats that were not mentioned either.

So many things went down it was hard to watch it all! It was honestly a blur of traffic whipping back in forth but somehow it was all under control. High lights for me were Jason Dill attacking the large up down manny sometimes using the step up ramp sometimes just going for it. Eli Reed came through his first run on fire landing so many tricks you had to wonder what he was saving for the finals. Kenny Anderson and Dennis Busentiz all ways semed to be going faster than everyone else and cruising with so much style. Stevie Williams was definately one to watch, when he Joey Brezenski came out for their heat they just slayed the middle manny pad. Chico Brenes is as smooth as they come and won a well deserved third. Brandon Biebel was slamming down some tech back and forth giving him second and then the man in charge earned first and was his all the way.

Awesome event, well done and everyone enjoyed it! Check out our photos.
